hormones

Things that make me cry these days:

*16 and Pregnant birth scenes (yeah I love 16 and pregnant, so what?)
*actually, any birth video
*really well written birth books (Like Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth)
*diaper commercials. yeah. diaper commercials. as sensational and sentimental as they are, the tears are out of my control.
*Emmet Gowin photos

My body is not my own.

  1. Brooke! I just posted a link on my blog that I think you'd like (that is, if you haven't already read it). It's called "Ecstatic Birth," by Sarah Buckley.

The instructor for my Natural Childbirth Class said that if she had to recommend only one article, this would be it. (I'm not also pregnant, just working on a doula certification).

    Peace & Love! Rebecca
    (Your blog is pretty great).

  2. Rebecca! You're going to be a doula?! That's so perfect. [I'm kind of intrigued and have a feeling once our little guy is born I might want to be one too....) That article is really good--for me, knowing the science and physiology of any natural bodily process helps me not to fear it. And it just makes sense--all these hormones working for our benefit. It's amazing. Have you read any of Ina May Gaskin's books? I'm working on her Guide to Childbirth and her breastfeeding one. She's awesome.

I hope you are so well. ps. can I read your blog? what is the address?

  3. Ina May Gaskin is so inspiring, I love reading her books.

I have two blogs. One of personal notes (mostly articles): rebgarof.tumblr.com. The other is joint with Ryan Weberling: www.rrrrrrr.org

    Be well!
